Be Josh and Matt Altman’s First Intern!

Cristin Zweig, PR Manager
March 21, 2013

Be the First Altman Brothers Intern. Apply now!
Dream job alert! Trulia just launched the “Be the First Altman Brothers’ Intern” contest, which will give one lucky Trulia user the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be the first intern to Josh and Matt Altman, two of the most well-known and well-connected real estate agents in the industry.

Amidst the glitz, glamour, and ultra-luxurious lifestyles of Hollywood, the Altman Brothers dominate their local housing market – now representing some of the biggest household names, from celebrities to entrepreneurs and socialites, and Josh Altman is becoming a bold-face name in his own right. You’ve likely seen Josh on TV, where he sells high-end real estate to the rich and famous. Together with his brother Matt, Josh recorded a staggering $200,000,000 in sales in 2012. With 2013 off to an even more impressive start, the duo is turning to Trulia to help them find their first superstar intern.

Could it be you?

The Altman Brothers’ very first intern will learn from Matt and Josh by witnessing and playing a part in their day-to-day business. Roles and responsibilities of their first Los Angeles-based intern include rubbing elbows with the rich and famous, as well as the following:

  • Building and executing online marketing plans for properties
  • Shadowing the duo as they show for-sale homes to prospective homebuyers
  • Touring some of the most exclusive private residences in Los Angeles
  • Aiding in scheduling appointments with clients
  • Planning and attending open houses alongside the Altman Brothers

To enter, visit Trulia.com/altmanintern and complete the submission form. Entrants are asked to test their online marketing prowess by “writing a compelling – and authentic – local review that sells your neighborhood to potential buyers,” and by also penning a brief overview of why they want to work for the Altman Brothers. Submissions will be judged and select entrants will advance to the next round, where an eventual winner will named the Altman Brother’s first intern.

Trulia’s “Be the First Altman Brothers’ Intern” Contest Timeline:

  • March 21, 2013: Contest opens to user submissions for four weeks
  • April 18, 2013: The initial entry window will close and second round finalists will be notified
  • April 22 – May 2, 2013: Second round interviews with the Altman Brothers commence
  • May 15, 2013: The winner is selected and notified by the Altman Brothers
  • August 1, 2013: The Altman Brothers internship begins!
  • August 30, 2013: The internship concludes

Think you have what it takes to work for the best in the business this summer? Enter here!

Trulia Enables Social Sharing of Listings via the Trulia for Agents Mobile App

Property listings with check-ins receive twice as many consumer views

We are excited to announce new social media features on the Trulia for Agents mobile app to help real estate professionals establish themselves as experts in their local market and attract more buyers for their property listings. The app enables listing check-ins and property insights to be shared by agents through Facebook and Twitter, as well as on their Trulia profile with the click of a button.

“I recently closed a $350,000 transaction with a new client I met as a result of a property check-in that was shared on Facebook, “ said Kenny Truong, top producing Realtor with Michael James Real Estate. “With so many buyers starting their search online, using Trulia is one of the key strategies that puts me on the front line of this competitive market and gives me the edge in the marketplace.”

The app’s social features also enable agents to receive immediate inquiries from both consumers and agents. When a home is checked-in to, alerts are instantly sent allowing for real-time communication between the listing and buyer’s agents. During 2012, for-sale listings on Trulia that were checked-in to received twice as many views as listings that did not have check-ins.

Property listings with check-ins benefit from the added exposure, receiving double the views from potential home buyers who can now discover properties shared by their agent. With the Trulia for Agents mobile app, agents can build their online presence, connect with customers, and boost their productivity all from their mobile phone, ultimately helping them provide better service to their customers and close more deals.

In addition to the social functionality, the Trulia for Agents App includes key tools for managing a real estate business, including lead notifications and contact management. Other features include:

  •  Converting Leads. Agents get notified instantly with every new lead so they can respond quickly.
  •  Connecting with clients. Agents can easily share homes they tour with prospective buyers on-the-go.
  • Displaying Local Expertise: Allows Agents to showcase their knowledge and activity in their local market.
  •  Staying informed. Listing agents can gather feedback and communicate with buyer agents as they show the listing.

The Trulia for Agents mobile app is available for free from the Apple App Store and the Android Market. For more details, visit www.trulia.com/agents/mobile.

Trulia Partners with Leading Rental Listings Providers in San Francisco

Trying to rent a place in San Francisco can be a daunting challenge. Not only does the city offer many different neighborhoods and amenities to consider, but the booming job market is fueling competition for apartments, which is pushing prices up. During the month of June, amongst the largest 25 metro areas in the country, San Francisco experienced the highest year-over-year increase in asking rent prices at 14.7%, making responding to listings quickly more important than ever.

In light of all this, we were excited to announce today, that both J.Wavro Associates and RentSFNow, will syndicate their San Francisco rental listings to Trulia, making a distinctive group of new properties available to Trulia users. This is just one example of the work that Trulia is doing with its partners in the real estate industry to present consumers with great listings around the country.

While the company is busy providing the best rental listings, it’s also been building mobile apps that empower consumers and take the friction out of apartment hunting. With Trulia’s mobile apps, consumers can personalize their search with specific apartment criteria and then receive notifications as soon as corresponding properties become available. In addition, listings are color-coded to show what that person has viewed previously, what they haven’t seen and perhaps most importantly, the most recent listings, to help them find and act upon rentals quickly.

Expect to see more activity from us, as we work to provide great rental listings and powerful tools for finding the right place to live.

San Francisco Association of Realtors Partners with Trulia to Improve Online Data Quality

Trulia is excited to announce a partnership with the San Francisco Association of REALTORS® to enhance listing data quality for the association’s 4,200 members.

Bay Area Real Estate Information Services Announces Direct Syndication to Trulia

We are pleased to welcome Bay Area Real Estate Information Services, Inc. (BAREIS MLS®) to the list of MLS’s working directly with Trulia as we continue to help the real estate industry with online listing quality.

Today Trulia announced a strategic alliance with Bay Area Real Estate Information Services, Inc. (BAREIS MLS®) to directly syndicate the listings of its 8,000 members to Trulia, providing consumers with the most accurate information on homes for sale in five Northern San Francisco Bay Area counties including Marin, Mendocino, Napa, Sonoma, and Solano.

With the addition of BAREIS MLS®, the majority of the MLSs in the Bay Area are now working with Trulia. Trulia already receives direct feeds from MLSListings, Bay East, and Contra Costa MLS, meaning Bay Area homebuyers can have an extremely high degree of confidence that the data they see on Trulia is correct. As part of its alliance with Trulia, BAREIS will also participate in the Trulia Direct Reference program, under which Trulia notifies listing agents and brokers about any discrepancies between the data provided by the MLS and information from other syndicators.

Listings from BAREIS MLS® will now be seen by the more than 23 million* serious home-buyers and sellers coming to Trulia each month to get the inside scoop on real estate they can’t find anywhere else. BAREIS MLS® will syndicate all of its listings unless the listing is not approved for the internet.

“Our membership is dedicated to providing the most accurate data on the internet to buyers and sellers working with the real estate professionals in our region,” said Jim Branscombe, President and CEO of BAREIS MLS®.  “There is an explosion of data and a great deal of that information is not accurate or kept up to date. Building strategic alliances with major real estate portals like Trulia will ensure the best data is available to the public and support the efforts of our real estate professionals to list and sell property. BAREIS MLS® has operated its own public site for 14 years, and this relationship we are forging with Trulia is similar to the relationships we have with other public internet sites we have worked with in that we are providing all active listing data approved for internet display.”

As part of the agreement, Trulia will abide by the guidelines established by theTrulia Data Pledge for listing syndication that launched in January 2012.

This alliance follows the recent announcement of our partnership with MRED in Chicago and several other MLS’s that have joined our Trulia Direct Reference program. We look forward to our collaboration with these organizations and delivering high quality listing information to home buyers in these areas.

Trulia Overhauls Industry Offerings

Pete Flint, CEO
May 7, 2012

A Message from Trulia CEO Pete Flint

Over the past three months, our industry team and our senior executives logged more than 100,000 miles on the road meeting with leading brokers across the country. We met with franchisors, large regional brokerages, and smaller brokers in their local markets to collaborate and identify how we can strengthen our relationship and help you succeed.

We listened closely and gathered feedback from partners like Houlihan Lawrence, @properties, RE/MAX Results, The Keyes Company and dozens more. I am delighted to say we are putting that feedback into action. In the coming weeks, Trulia will be launching a series of updates to improve broker marketing tools and address the challenges around data accuracy and advertising on property listings. Some of the changes we will make are below.

Enhance identification of listing broker and agent

We will enhance the identification of the listing broker and listing agent on every listing on our site, both at the top of the page and in the body of the detailed listing data.

Top of the Page Attribution Module

Bottom of the Page Attribution Module

Broker logo will display on all premium listings.

Remove competing ads on premium listings

We will remove competing agent and/or broker display advertising on premium listings. On non-premium listings, paid advertisements will be more clearly identified.

Display Ads on Non-Premium Listings

Improve listing data accuracy

We will enhance listing management and claiming processes to improve accuracy of the listings we display. It has always been our goal to display the most accurate listings information to home buyers and sellers. That said, as you know, data accuracy is a complex challenge due to the fragmented nature of the real estate industry’s data management systems. This challenge is not unique to Trulia, and we continue to invest significant resources towards developing effective solutions, but we need your assistance. Our interests are fully aligned with yours on this subject; data accuracy is a shared responsibility we need to solve together. We ask for your help and support, and are committed to continue to work with the industry to improve data quality on all levels.

We’ve built our audience to more than 23 million consumers visiting every month and we want to create a compelling and accurate experience that connects them to our brokers, agents and partners. We want to be your premier media and technology partner to contribute to your success. Part of Trulia’s success is that we have always iterated on our products by listening to our customers, in our commitment to creating the best real estate experience. We look forward to more collaboration and ongoing discussion in the future.

Best,

Pete Flint

Announcing the First Mobile Advertising Platform for Real Estate Agents

Full screen ad with "Call Now" button

Over the past two years, we’ve watched a new audience of consumers emerge who are passionate about using Trulia’s top-rated mobile apps find their next home.   These buyers are deeply involved in the home search process, using their mobile phones to browse listings as they drive through neighborhoods and visit open homes.   Most interestingly, these on-the-go buyers often request the help of a real estate agent—our research has found that consumers on Trulia’s mobile apps are 60% more likely to contact an agent during their home search.*

Today, Trulia is proud to announce Trulia Mobile Ads, the first mobile advertising platform designed specifically to help real estate agents connect with these transaction-ready mobile consumers.  Trulia Mobile Ads allow agents to purchase a share of display advertising space and generate phone leads from consumers who are using Trulia’s iPhone and Android apps, as well as Trulia’s mobile website.  Top agents using these prominent mobile ad placements are already discovering that phone leads from mobile buyers are just one touch away.

In every ZIP code, agents may purchase up to five Mobile Ads spots that include a banner ad on the map page, a personalized full screen ad with lead form and the guaranteed top spot in Trulia’s mobile lead generator.  With Trulia Mobile Ads, it takes only one tap for buyers to directly call an agent from a banner or full screen ad.

Banner ad on the map search page

Trulia Mobile Ads subscriptions include:

  • A Branded Banner Ad:  The banner ad includes the agent’s photo, name and phone number and appears at the top of map search page as consumers browse homes in local neighborhoods.
  • Full Screen Ad:  When clicking on a banner ad, the full screen takeover ad appears, including the agent’s contact info, brokerage, a “Call Now” button and lead form
  • Phone Lead Generation:  All ad templates include large buttons and links allowing consumers to call agents from Trulia Mobile Ads with just one touch.

Trulia Mobile Ads are sold on a first come, first serve basis and are currently available only to existing Trulia Local Ads and Trulia Pro customers.  Agents may reserve their Mobile Ads advertising space by calling 1-888-553-8864
