Fast Company Magazine mentioned Trulia’s Layar augmented reality application as one of the Top 5 to watch.
According to Fast Company:
Trulia for Android
The real-estate search site uses Layar’s Reality Browser to overlay listings on top of a Google phone’s camera view. Scan a neighborhood’s available properties and even connect to the realtors.
For those of you with an iPhone 3GS, it’s available for you to download in the Apple Itunes store.

1 commentWe are very excited today to announce the addition of a new section to our Trulia Voices community: Trulia Guides
The Trulia Voices community has been helping consumers and agents alike to make better real estate decisions by providing answers to specific questions, and offering a large volume of blog posts covering the real estate market and the real estate transactions. Trulia Guides is joining the Trulia Voices group of products to offer simple how-to advice for every step of the real estate process.

Even though we’d like to take credit for this idea, we have to admit that how-to guides was something that our consumers (and agents) conceived first and asked for our help to make it happen. They wanted a place where they can read step by step info on what to do and what not to do, so they feel more educated and empowered during the whole process.
What we did is to create a dream team of writers and journalists who have been covering a wide variety of real estate topics for many years, and we worked with them to create a list of how-to guides. Today, we are launching four topics: Home Buying, Home Selling, Financing, and Rentals.
This is just the beginning. Our plans include not only to expand the topics that we are covering, but also to increase the number of writters and allow a few selected Trulia Voices community members to also contribute. But more on this to come later
Spend some time reading through Trulia Guides (it is really interesting, promise!) and don’t forget to comment on this blog post with your feedback! We’d love to hear what you think about the current guides and what topics you’d like to see us adding.
Enjoy!

Our October home price reduction report shows a fourth straight month of increases. 25.6% of U.S. homes as of October 1, 2009 have experienced at least 1 price cut of their original asking price. The total amount slashed off of active for sale listings by home sellers is $28.4 billion, a $967 million increase from June 2009. According to Trulia’s Co-Founder & CEO Pete Flint,
Interest in real estate typically wanes at the end of the year, which means that sellers who didn’t aggressively price their homes may find themselves making difficult decisions to reduce their prices or delay the sale until interest piques again in January,” said Pete Flint, Trulia co-founder and CEO.“We are seeing the beginning of this trend in the Northeast and Western United States with discounting happening at all price points, and expect it to continue.”

0 commentsOne thing we’ve learned by talking to hundreds of real estate agents over the past few years is that agents have very different needs when it comes to real estate advertising. Some want highly advanced, cool, techie features, but others simply want the basics. While we’ve been happy to see Trulia Pro reach thousands of customers in its first year of service, today we are expanding the Trulia Pro product line into three new plans to better address the needs of more agents.
For those agents interested in the advanced, cool features, we’re launching Trulia Pro Deluxe. There are several new features in Deluxe:
Build virtual tours to be seen on Trulia quickly and easily with listing photos and added captions. The virtual tour opens on a new page with a player automatically cycling through all the images of the home. A lead form makes it easy for an interested home buyer to contact the agent directly from this page.
Contact Info on Search Page
This feature allows agents to their name and contact info on the main search page to stand out from other agents. It also makes it even easier for one of Trulia’s 5.5 million monthly visitors to contact them.
Client Email Tracking
Receive open rate info for Client Listing Reports. Agents have sent well over 1,000,000 reports to their clients since we launched this functionality. Now, Deluxe customers will be able to better understand which of their clients are most engaged by seeing who actually opens the email.
Dedicated Account Manager
Trulia Pro Deluxe customers will have a dedicated account manager to help them get the most from Trulia Pro. This person will help the agent with account reviews and ongoing personalized support.
In addition, to Trulia Pro Deluxe, we’re also launching Trulia Pro Plus and Trulia Pro Starter.
Trulia Pro Plus is most similar to the original Trulia Pro offering, including unlimited featured listings and a Local Spotlight Ad in up to 20 locations.
Trulia Pro Starter allows for only one listing to be featured in addition to a Local Spotlight Ad.
So check out these new plans and choose the one that best fits your needs! As always, please let us know what you think.
