As a father of 3 precious children under 3 myself, I understand the joy and the challenges that come with raising them in a safe and happy environment. So when I saw the size of the home that Nadya was planning on buying my wife and I wondered how the heck they will manage in that space. Sure, it’s approximately 2,445 sf of living space but is that really enough to raise her 6 older kids, not to mention her 8 newborns? Time will tell. Even the Gosselin’s, known as John and Kate Plus 8, who have 8 children have a larger home according to Associated Content, “John and Kate’s new house was listed as a 5 bedroom home with 5 full baths and 2 half baths. It has 6200 square feet of living space and was built in 1998. It is Wernersville, PA.”
According to The Huffington Post, her older children are already having a difficult time with the new situation. Nadya said her older children are “Externalizing their anger. Internalizing it. They become more withdrawn and get a little more sad.” Sure, the media spotlight and frenzy plays a large role in that but I can only imagine how claustrophobic they must feel. Personally, my wife and I both see how important it is to give each of our children quality time and attention. It’s crucial in these early stages of life to be there for each individual child to show them love. Some parents complain about the terrible two’s as that’s the age when most kids supposedly “act out” or become temperamental. We have found it to be the opposite. It’s a time when kids want to share their feelings or emotions but haven’t yet developed the ability to do so. So when I read about what her older kids are feeling, I understand – it’s a very tough situation all around.
Good luck to Octo-Mom Nadya and the whole Suleman family!
